Impressed? Well, you can do the same things to your Ubuntu using the software named compiz-fusion. But before that, you must fulfill the minimum requirements which are:

  • You must have a Graphic card (NVidia, ATI or any other)
  • You must have the drivers for the card installed.

To check whether the drivers for your graphic card are installed or not, do this:

1–> Open System->Administration->Additional Drivers

2–> It will then search for the latest drivers (or installed drivers) for your graphic card.

3–> From the list see if the driver for your card is installed or not.

4–> If driver is installed, click on close, else select the recommended driver and click on install. It will download the recommended driver and install it. Once the installation is complete, you have to reboot your system.

Once the driver has been checked, follow these steps to install compiz-fusion:

1–> Open Synaptic Package Manager from System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager

2–> In the quick search box, type simple-ccsm.

3–> Select the simple-ccsm package and install it and all its dependencies.

Once installed, this is how to use compiz-fusion:

1–> Open System->Preferences->Appearance.

2–> From Appearance Preferences, select Visual Effects.

3–> Now select option Custom and click on Preferences.

This will open the Compiz-fusion Setting Manager.

Once this is done, you can open Compiz-fusion Setting Manager from:

System->Preferences->CompizConfig Setting Manager

or press alt+F2 and enter ccsm

Play around, change the configuration and enjoy!
